1. Corregidor

Known to be the “the Rock”, Corregidor is known for its important historical attractions. It served as the headquarters of the Allied Forces and also the seat of Philippine Commonwealth government. The huge firearms of Corregidor which are used in support for Filipino and American defenders of Bataan are still in the vicinity together with the ruined buildings and establishments. A visit to this former battleground is a memorable experience, especially for those people who value and cherish freedom and peace.

2. Intramuros

Intramuros was erected on the ruins of a Malay settlement at the mouth of the Pasig River. Its strategic location attracted the attention of the conquistador Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, who took over the area in 1571 and proclaimed it as the Philippine colony's new capital.

For 400 years, Intramuros was the center of Spanish political, religious, and military power in the region. The walled city suffered grievously through World War II; only San Agustin Church was left standing by war's end.

3. Rizal Shrine

A complex building located on Santa Clara Street, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila. This shrine is dedicate d to Dr. Jose Rizal, all his works, collections, memorabilias and books. This is where he spent his last night before he was executed and where his family found his last famous poem disguised in an oil lamp entitled Mi Ultimo Adios or My Last Farewell. There are also Rizal Shrine in other places like Dapitan and Laguna.

4. Banaue Rice Terraces



The Banaue Rice Terraces are a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines and are considered to be the 8th Natural Wonder of the World by many Filipinos. The terraces are carved in the mountains of Ifugao and were most likely done by hand.

There have been rice terraces in the mountainous regions of Ifugao and northern Luzon Island for over 2,000 years.

Banaue rice terraces stretch like stepping stones to the sky - some reaching an altitude of 1500m (4920ft). It is considered as one of mankind's greatest engineering feat. If the terraces were laid end to end, they would stretch half way around the world.

5. Aguinaldo Shrine


The Aguinaldo Shrine is the national shrine located in KawitCavite in the Republic of the Philippines, where the independence of the Philippines from Spain was declared on June 12, 1898.[4] To commemorate the event, now known as Araw ng Kalayaan or Independence Day, a national holiday, the Philippine flag is raised here by top government officials on June 12 each year. The house is now a museum.
